Bio Mass
Biomass is an exciting renewable energy source. It is composed of biological material that is derived from organisms. In biomass one can find wood waste and alcohol. Biomass is usually plant matter that is specifically grown to generate heat and electricity. A large contributor to global biomass is forest residues. Forest residues include dead trees, tree stumps and branches. Wood chips are also popular to use as biomass.
Biomass has both a personal and an industrial use. Industrial biomass is usually grown from various plant materials such as switchgrass, hemp, willow, poplar, sorghum, sugarcane and a wide variety of tree species (eucalyptus and palm oil being the most usable).
Wood energy
Wood energy is derived from both direct use of harvested wood and from wood waste streams. By far the largest source of energy from wood is pulping liquor. Pulping liquor is a waste product from processes of the pulp, paperboard and paper industry.
