Renewable Fuel
Renewable fuels include biofuels such as vegetable oil, ethanol and biodiesel and hydrogen. Renewable fuels are very popular due to their sustainability and low carbon/greenhouse gas emmission
Ethanol and Biodiesel are exaples of renewable, non fossil fuels. Renewable fuel is mainly produced in Australia from biomass such as:
- Sugar canes
- Waste oils
- Vegetable Oils (Canola, Soy Bean, Palm Oils)
- Wheat
In contrast to renewable fuels, petrol and diesel are non renewable petroleum fuels that have a finite life span as viable transport fuels. Biofuels provide a good alternative and will become essential transport fuels during the transition from petrol and diesel to future fuel technologies over the next 30 years. Right now, most renewable fuels are still in development state.
