Wood Fuel
Wood fuel is wood used as fuel. The largest use of energy derived from solid fuel biomasses is burning wood. Wood fuel is used for cooking and heating, but also for fueling steam engines and steam turbines.
For wood fuel the following ingredients are most commonly used:
- Firewood such as bolts, blocks and logs of wood
- Charcoal
- Wood Chips
- Wood Pellets
- Wood Sheets
- Sawdust
The quality and applications depend on the ingredients used. Sawmill waste and construction industry by-products also include forms of lumber tailings.
Burning Wood Fuel
Wood is the most easily available form of fuel known to mankind. It requires no tools in the case of gathering dead wood, but like any industry, tools such as wood splitters have emerged to increase efficiency. To burn the wood it can be put into a furnace, burned in a stove, fireplace, campfire or bonfire.
